Republic Yuan Shih-kai silver Pattern "Plumed Hat - Hat Touches Rim" Medallic Dollar ND (1916) AU58 NGC, Tientsin mint, KM-Pn52, L&M-945, Kann-664a, WS-0100A, Wenchao-1101 (rarity 2 stars). Variety with tall plume on hat that nearly touches the rim. Struck to commemorate the inauguration of Yuan Shih-kai as Emperor Hung Hsien. An extreme rarity within the famed "Plumed Hat" series, and undoubtedly one of the most fiercely contested issues of Yuan Shih-kai, presented here on the cusp of a Mint State designation. It far exceeds the rarity and is encountered considerably less than the standard "Plumed Hat" Dollar (L&M-942), with this cataloger only being able to trace three instances of this issue on the market since 2016.
