ighest Graded Fr. 8 in Private HandsFr. 8 $10 1861 Demand Note PCGS Extremely Fine 40. Serial number 83129-A from Series 5 made itself known to the hobby at large when it appeared on a 1984 fixed price list. Our first offering of this charming $10 was in our Winter Auction of January 1997, as lot 2126. We stated then that it was the highest graded example in private hands according to the Gengerke Census. Today, it is in a PCGS XF 40 holder with minor restorations and is the sole highest graded Fr. 8 in Track & Price aside from a raw 45 that calls the ANA Museum home. Therefore, it remains the highest graded example in private hands surpassing any other Fr. 8 listed in T&P or graded by PMG or PCGS Banknote.
